SUBJECT: ADVANCED LINE DANCE WORKSHOP
WHEN: Tuesday - September 21st at 6:30 p.m. (first time, hopefully monthly event)
WHERE: Camden Lugoff Elks Lodge; 1332 Elk Court; Lugoff SC 29078 (this is located between Camden & Columbia)
We are planning a monthly ADVANCED line dance workshop to be held on the 3rd TUESDAY of each month. Two ADVANCED dances will be taught and, if time permits, a review of last month’s two dances will be done. Not a lot of open dancing, just enough to get us warmed up. This is designed to give experienced dancers exposure to some of the really cool dances that are out there. There is not always time in a regular dance class for these types of dances. There won’t be much “moddley cuddling” at this workshop, so come prepared to learn. The cost will depend on the number of participants as we are renting the Lodge and splitting the cost amongst the attendees. Drinks will be available but no food. As this is our first time out with this, it is a work in progress. Any questions, email Vickie at DANCEJUNKIE71@YAHOO.COM

SUBJECT: WHAT GRAHAM AND KATHY ARE TEACHING IN UK
Last week we went with Shaz Walton's new Country dance GROOVEY LITTLE SUMMER SONG 32 count 4 wall 2 tags Music Groovey Little Summer Song by James Otto, Did not think this had been received that well as no feed back and we were going to drop it this week, when several dancers asked why we where not recapping it as they really liked the dance, so after the recap this week a lot more positive response about this one. Loads did comment on what a great piece of music it was.
This week we had a Rob Fowler Week teaching two of the dance taught at the Worlds, we wanted to teach this one last week, but there were many bad scripts on all the major sites. First up WONDERLAND WALTZ 48 count 2 wall improver Music Welcome to Mystery by Plain White T's CD Almost Alice. This was by far the most well received dance of the two. You could easily mistake this song for the Beatles singing it. Dance went extremely well for a class that don't normally like a Waltz Well worth a look at.
Second GYPSY ROSA LI 64 count easy intermediate 2 walls Music Gypsy by Ray Scott CD My Kind of Music Nothing very hard about this one either, and to a lovely Country track too! You have to think a bit more on this one, Another worth looking at. too.
Both videoed on our site below.

SUBJECT: DANCIN' UP A STORM
From: dbhestates@aol.com
To Whom It May Concern:
A couple weeks ago, August 12-15, 2010, Ms. Karen Hedges hosted a dance event at the Hilton Airport Hotel. This is a dance/charity event held to raise money for the Shrine Hospital for Children. This year's theme was Looney Tunes. The event was very well attended! Ms. Hedges' events are always fun and spectacular! She had many instructors; Max Perry, Kathy Hyunadi, John Robinson, Junior Willis, to name a few. To start her event, she held an auction with Ms. Jamie Marshall, Junior Willis, and John Robinson as the auctioneers. There was open dancing after the auction and the instructors gave demos of their dances they taught. The dance parties on Friday and Saturday evenings were well attended. On Saturday night, Ms. Hedges introduced Devin Wheat (not sure of last name spelling) Devin was helped by the Shrine Hospital for Children. He was born with a cleft palate and has no visible trace of it today. There was even a surprise visit from Tweety Bird!!! The event wound down on Sunday afternoon with everyone tired, brain dead from all of the dances they had learned, but wearing smiles on their faces saying they would return next year! I am glad to have been a part of this wonderful event! Hope to see everyone back next year!!

Hi everyone,
I'm having difficulty finding the music for Hot Hot Hot. If anyone can point
me in the right direction, I'd be grateful. Considering I'm supposed to be
teaching this dance on Thursday night, I guess it would be good to have the
song :-) Didn't think it would be that difficult to get! Thanks in
advance.

SUBJECT: BEGINNER DANCES
FROM: CAROLYN ROBINSON
After several emails inquiring if this is going to be a regular posting, I've decided I would place a post on Carol's newsletter the beginning of each month asking for your favorite BEGINNER LEVEL dance. Then I'll go through all the dances and post the list by the 15th of the month. Hope this works for you. If anyone has a better idea, please let me know!
Thanks again to everyone who sent in their favorite dances!

SUBJECT: SAFETY WHEN TEACHING
Hi all,
How observant are we when teaching? When getting a bit tired, having a laugh with your class, teaching an ‘easy dance’ As a newish teacher I am very aware when teaching as we do with our back to the class, the difficulty of always observing everyone. I made a conscious effort to do this in my last class. I observed someone putting all their weight on the heel for a heel ball change, although not taught it at all like that and a new member to my class dancing syncopated splits “jumps” landing on both feet, which is really high impact for your joints.
Really interesting if you REALLY observe individual steps what some people actually dance and how potentially they could injure themselves and the importance of all teachers having training and awareness of correct techniques.

From: melodyluvs2dance@gmail.com
I just wanted to thank Steve Lescarbeau for putting together another wonderful workshop on Saturday the 21st at the Peabody Knights of Columbus. We had a great time! I had an opportunity to meet Cato and what an outstanding instructor with a great sense of humor. Cato I am looking forward to seeing you again and having as many laughs as we did. Thank you for taking the time to come out and teach us some fun dances. There were a lot of laughs and fantastic music put on by Louie St. George. Cato taught us Win the Race - very cute! Steve not only taught hot, hot, hot but a beautiful waltz called Don't Let Go. Debi Pancoast taught Corazon Cha and Early Morning Blues. For those of you who missed it, there will be a Holiday Workshop on December 11th at the Knights of Columbus with Steve Lescarbeau and Junior Willis. Louie St. George with be the DJ. Please come out and give it a try. You won't be disappointed believe me - these guys are awesome!!!
