EVENT REPORT
Midnight Rodeo Spring Workshop 2010

break

I went to the Midnight Rodeo Workshop hosted by Marilyn and Ray McNeal yesterday featuring Rachael McEnaney. It was another great event with all the trimmings -- donuts, and coffee after being greeted by the great staff and we had a wonderful lunch prepared for everyone followed by cake!! Rachel did her usual wonderful job of teaching. Marilyn will have pictures and a report posted on her site, which I'll send you as soon as I get the link. Thanks so much to everyone who makes these workshops such a success. We even had candlelight to eat lunch by. I thought that was a nice touch accompanied by soft music to make us sit for a few minutes and just enjoy a break. There were lots of raffle winners and it was just a great day.
I didn't go early for the Friday evening festivities but everyone that did had a great time and there was also dancing Saturday night and the amazing breakfast at the O'Neals on Sunday morning before everyone took off for home. Can't wait to see everyone in a couple of weeks at the Showdown and I'm sure we'll be doing many of the dances taught since Rachael will be there, too.

I went to visit friends in The Villages after. I had never been to The Villages before and I can understand why everyone loves living there. I have never seen so many cool golf carts. It's like Disneyland for adults and everyone I talk to who lives there, just loves it. My friends took me on a tour of all the different villages and if you ever have some free time, you should just go and shop and eat at some of the neat restaurants and enjoy the music and dancing in one of the squares. Thanks to every one who gave me great directions so I didn't even get lost getting there. LOL.

Here's what Rachael taught:

BOBBI WITH AN I, Peppy music, kind of a light rock that could be taught in clubs and classes that want county. Easy Int.

RHYME OR REASON, Cute, EZ Int. Definitely country. Good bar dance with shuffles, stomps, claps.

SENTIMENTAL. I love this dance. I already knew it because Maurice has taught it at The Roundup but it was fun taking the lesson again from Rachael.

STIPUD IN LOVE, my favorite of the day other than Sentimental. It's only 32 counts and is listed as an advanced dance but there's just a couple of little tricky things and it is definitely worth learning. I'm sure we'll be seeing this one at upcoming events.

AMERICANO by Simon Ward and Maddison Glover. This is more of a routine than a regular dance in the same vein as YES, YOU WON'T. It's fun and once you learn the parts, they fit perfectly with the music. I had been wanting to learn it so was very happy she taught it.

SHE ALSO TAUGHT A BRAND NEW ONE WITH NO NAME YET. Can you say FAST!! lol. It was cute. I was tired so watched the teach of this one but everyone was laughing and having fun.

THANKS SO MUCH, Marilyn and Ray, and your whole staff who made another wonderful day in Ocala. I even enjoyed the ride because the rolling hills and horse forms are so beautiful in that area of Florida. If you're ever visiting, be sure and visit Marilyn's classes at the Midnight Rodeo. I was greeted when I came home with a summons for jury duty the end of April. They don't know that after a zillion years as a court reporter, I believe whatever each side says so I don't think I will be a very good juror. LOL
