My fun and fond memories of Bucky are many but one that stands out was last year at the Tampa event during the pro/am competition. Bucky got on the floor with Stacy and me when we danced "Mars Attack"!! He was his usual crazy self but I got so absorbed watching him and laughing that I forgot the steps for the dance. Hope nobody noticed -- but I am sure everyone was watching Bucky and never knew what parts I missed. That was a wonderful - funfilled moment in time for us. Many happy memories will always remain with me. God Bless you, Bucky. Thank you for being so special.
Much luv - Arline

The year was 1974. My first year of law school. I was one of the "unfortunate ones". Those who had to work their way through lawschool, and hadn't been born with a silver spoon in their mouth. However, I was fortunate enough to meet a few "real people" in my law school class. Bucky was one of those. Bucky and I became good friends both in and out of class - although neither of us had much time to spend with one another "out of class". (We worked our tails off!!) Bucky was as smart as any of my classmates - but he had one peculiarity. The poor guy couldn't spell worth a darn. I thought so many times that we would both be thought to be cheating because in the middle of an exam he'd say "How do you spell "res ipsa loquitar" or some such thing. One night Bucky, myself and our buddy Gary (a 450 pound world wrist wrestling champion) celebrated passing some exam or another by going downtown in San Francisco. After a couple of drinks we got on the cable cars and terrori
zed the tourists. Bucky was in rare form!! One of my favorite images is of Bucky hanging from a cable car and mooning a passing motorist. Needless to say we were immediately asked to get off the cable car. (I guess San Francisco wasn't THAT liberal at the time!) We laughed the entire 15 blocks back to where the car was parked! Many years later, when my son joined the Marine Corps, Bucky was there with words of encouragement for me. I'll never forget his comment upon hearing of my son's enlistment. Bucky said (with tongue in cheek) "Did he fall on his head someplace?" My reply was "yup - same place you musta fallen." God Bucky how much I will miss you. You brought a smile to my face every time you called me. My thoughts and prayers are with you and with your family. Semper fi my friend. Semper fi.

Some of my fondest memories of Bucky will always be having so much fun with him and Carol. Bucky and Carol are like my parents - people that I always look up to and went to for advice. They would always tell me the truth, even if it was something I did not want to hear. Bucky was always joking around, playing jokes and having a good time, but he could be very serious and downright assertive when he needed to be.

I knew Bucky and Carol for many years working in the legal field, but got to know them much better in 1989 when my friend Donna and I went on a cruise in which Bucky and Carol and David and Judy decided to go on as well. Donna and I did not know that we would know anyone on this cruise, but we found out quickly who was there and got to spend the entire trip with them. We had so much fun on this cruise. Some of the pictures that I have sent will show what a character Bucky was.

We ate dinner every night together in the dining room on the cruise. I have included the picture of those that were at our table every night. Bucky was always pulling jokes on our waiter and bus boy. We would give our orders and then would do a chinese fire drill and all switch seats. Bucky would put stuff in his food and then would show our waiter John what he found in his food. This went on all week. The last day, John got pay back. Bucky ordered soup for his appetizer. John delivered Bucky's soup as he had in all week long, in a very professional fashion. Well Bucky went to start eating it and in it was a finger with blood on it (a fake on of course). As you can see from Carol's reaction, we were all in hysterics - John got him good!

One of the islands we went to was Jamaica. They told us before we left the ship to make sure we use only the taxi's with the red license plates. Well Bucky arranged for our Taxi for the day, we did not get a red license plate taxi, but it was a great experience. We went to Dunn's River Falls and as you can see from the picture, it was very tiring for Bucky just to watch those climbing the rocks. He was exhausted by the time we got to the top.

Him and his friend Dave were always goofing off too. As you can see, they were being typical American Tourist garbage pickers. It is also a good thing that Carol has a great sense of humor, because Bucky was always pulling stunts on her. At one point, he was acting like a robot when we got to Cozumel.

Every where we went, we always had to stop and have a drink - we had lots of drinks. I have attached some of the pictures from our drinking stops. A Bar in Mexico and the water bar that Bucky had to have a drink at.

I have so many favorite pictures and memories of Bucky, but this one picture I love which is a picture taken of Bucky and myself on one of our formal nights on the cruise. This is just Bucky and how he was.

Then there is the dancing. Bucky created a dance when he lived in Vermont. It was called the Bucky and he taught Chad how to do the "Bucky". They use to perform it at least once every night we went dancing no matter where we went dancing. This picture was take in the Cape at an event we went to.

I will have to tell you about the Cape event. It is like every other event in that we all spent a lot of time dancing and learning and dancing some more. Late nights early mornings. We were all very tired when we had to leave to drive home. Bucky drove, Carol was co-pilot and Chad and I were passengers. So we headed out, I tried to take a nap and must have because when I woke up, we were getting off the Interstate to take a pit stop. I looked up I asked Bucky if he had any idea where we were - I don't think he had a clue, but I did. I told Bucky that if he kept going north, we would be in Maine just as soon as we crossed the bridge. Needless to say, the pit stop was at Portsmouth, NH. Apparently we missed the turn to get to Vermont. Carol said she was not sure if Bucky always knew where he was going but but Bucky always managed to get them home.

We say that Bucky was always joking around, but could be very serious when needed to be. When we came home from that cruise, our flight from New Jersey had been waylaid because of mechanical problems. We sat around the airport waiting for several hours. At about 1:30 Bucky had enough and in no uncertain terms told the airline to either find us a plane to get us home or to put us up for the night. We had a plane and were boarded on underway within a ½ hour of that conversation. He was a great guy to have on your side and watching out for you.

I will miss Bucky very much and will always cherish all the fun times that I have had with both him and Carol. They are two very wonderful people and have had a huge impact on my life and I can imagine on every single person they touch.

Bucky's been gone a year today and I just wanted to offer a prayer for his amazing widow, Carol.  If I could do it, I'd send a huge bouquet of flowers one from each of the line dancers that shared the floor with Bucky.
